What is a Level 2 Electrician?
A Level 2 Accredited Service Provider (ASP) is an electrician with specialised government-issued accreditation to perform work on the electricity distribution network — the infrastructure that runs between the street's high-voltage lines and your property's connection point. Standard electricians are not licensed to carry out this work.
In New South Wales, Level 2 ASP accreditation is governed by the Electricity Supply (Safety and Network Management) Regulation 2014 and issued through authorised energy distributors including Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy. Working on these network assets without the correct accreditation is illegal and dangerous.
